Sitting or Standing? Which One is Better for You?

YES!

I love to look things from both sides. This might not be the “most ergonomic” solution “by experts” to work at home, but hey, it’s far better than sitting in a comfortable chair for hours and hours, or standing all day long…

To have an inexpensive “stool” like this forces you to move around. You can sit, stand, go down on the ground, half kneeling, you name it.

Sitting in a certain position for long periods of time will have adaptations on your system. Circulation, blood-flow will be slower, tissues (muscles, fascia) won’t move, so they get “sticky”, which will eventually make you less mobile and flexible. You are going to be more prone to (overuse) injuries.

By changing positions time to time have great benefits. Lymphatic flow will be better (waste removal from the cells), tissues are going to be more hydrated, your brain works better just to name a few.

Of course you don’t have to ditch your fancy chair, but at least try to change something and be aware when your body is begging for standing up.

What is your favorite position to work in front of the screen?

Yours in Health and Fitness,

Gabor
